Munali feeder roads to be rehabilitated

Six feeder roads in Munali constituency have been earmarked for rehabilitation at the cost of over K8 million under the 2024 Constituency Development Funds (CDF) allocation.

Munali Member of Parliament Mike Mposha disclosed this when he toured the constituency and monitored some of the projects being implemented using CDF.

The Lawmaker toured the St. Augustine and Kalikiliki transmitter road works in Kalikiliki ward as well as the Vera Chiluba road in Mtendere.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Mposha has however regretted that the road constructions are faced with challenges of sufficient space for roads and drainage construction as some residents have built houses and shops on the road reserve.

He said this has left the contractors with no choice but to construct narrow roads without proper drainages since the option of demolishing these houses and structures is too costly.

Mr. Mposha further highlighted his commitment to ensure that members of his constituency are accorded good standard recreation facilities to keep them fit and healthy as well as providing an opportunity for the young people with recreation alternatives to drug and alcohol abuse and other vices.

Speaking when he inspected one of the recreation sites at Kaunda Square grounds, Mr. Mposha disclosed that the modern sports and recreation facilities being constructed in the constituency will have proper security and lighting that will enable the community members to access the facilities even in the evening.

He has thanked the government for increasing the Constituency Development Funds allocation in the nation, stating that it has allowed the constituencies to do some projects that were otherwise impossible before.

Mr. Mposhya, who is also Minister of Green Economy and Environment said he is impressed with the speed and quality of execution of the roads by the Zambia National Service (ZNS), who are the main contractors of the projects.
