Manyinga Town Council has cancelled four contracts under the 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) due to failure by the contractor to execute the works.
Manyinga Town Council Director Engineering Namiluko Namiluko disclosed this to ZANIS news that the authority is conducting site visits for the cancelled 2022 CDF projects and also site visits for the failed tenders of some of the 2024 CDF projects.
“The local authority is re-advertising due to failure by the contractors earlier engaged to perform and hence contracts were terminated,” he said.
Engineer Namiluko further notes that the 2024 projects are progressing smoothly and it is disheartening that about four projects are being re-tendered after failed tenders.
He noted that the authority is hopeful that this time around the council will manage to find contractors that will execute the works.
Engineer Namiluko also highlighted that among 2024 CDF projects being re-tendered are the construction of a Local Court, construction of dormitories and a school hall at Thomson Akatoka Boarding School which is the first ever co-education boarding school in the district.
