“Not only are we celebrating 60 years of independence but also reflecting on the journey of resilience , progress and unity that has brought us to where we stand today,” he said.

Earlier, Chisamba Town Council Secretary Chamuka Muwamba called on the community to embrace the spirit of hard work so as to recover from the impact of the drought.

Mr. Muwamba noted that for the community to fully enjoy their political freedom, they need work towards becoming self-reliant.

And Chisamba Freedom Fighters Representative Stanley Mhlanga urged the citizenry to guard the peace and unity the country has been enjoying for the past 60 years.

Mr. Mhlanga stated that the nation’s sovereignty came at a cost hence it is important for the citizenry and political players to preserve it and prioritise the interest of the nation as opposed to self-interests.
