Marketeers at Chisokone Market in Ndola District have appealed to the government to come to their aid in a matter where some marketeers have been denied access to the 2 by 2 meter stands being allocated to traders outside the market.
Lilian Munsaka who represented her fellow marketeers alleged that there is a group of people going round the market collecting K4, 200 from marketers for them to be given a stand outside the market.
Ms Munsaka said that because of some business constraints most traders are unable to raise the said money for them to be given a stand.
Ndola City Council Public Relations Manager Rabbeca Mushota has confirmed with ZANIS in Ndola that the council is aware of the issues and will tomorrow meet with the marketeers to chat the way forward.
Ms. Mushota SAID there is an aggrieved group from the marketeers that have said they cannot manage to pay the amount being asked for.
She said the amount in question came about as marketers sat down to raise funds within themselves to build proper and uniform structures that will suit the city standard.
