Education authorities have encouragedall grade seven candidates not to absenteeism from the ongoing national examinations.
District Education Board Secretary, Mathias Chuunga, says that there is need for all registered candidates to sit for the examinations.
In an interview with ZANIS , Mr Chuunga explained that his office has been working tirelessly to reduce the number of absentees during examinations.
“As a district, we have been trying to reduce the numbers of absentees because it gives a wrong picture and it also reduces the performance of the district in terms of people who sat against those who wrote the examinations”, he said.
The high number of absentees during an examination has the potential to compromise the district’s performance.
Mr. Chuunga further called on parents and guardians to encourage their children to sit for the examinations.
“The pupils’ readiness cannot be emphasized so they should just write whatever they have prepared because this is what they were waiting for”, he said.
