Kabwantu Primary School in Chiawa Chiefdom of Kafue District has recorded 100% pupil retention following the introduction of a feeding programme.
Head teacher Mulemwa Mukamba disclosed to ZANIS that the school which has an enrollment of about 849 learners has recorded 100% school attendance since the introduction of the feeding programme last month.
Mr Mukamba said learners actively attend classes and engage in extracurricular activities.
“Following the introduction of the feeding programme to our school last month, we have recorded 100% learner class attendance and school retention,” Mr. Mukamba said.
He disclosed that the school has been running the feeding programme since last month and Learners are being fed with high energy protein supplements during their stay in schools.
Meanwhile, Kafue District Education Board Secretary, Belinah Moono, added that the feeding programme currently running is the first category of the school feeding programme being supported by World Vision Zambia.
Mrs Moono said World Vision is currently Supporting 31 Primary schools in Kafue District.
“We started the first category of the feeding programmes in schools supported by World Vision and about 31 schools are currently implementing the programme,” said Mrs Moono.
She added that the second category of the feeding programme which is supported by the government in all schools, is scheduled to commence soon.
