First Lady Mutinta Hichilema has commended the Chinese government for supporting Zambia in different sectors of the economy.
Mrs Hichilema says China has supported Zambia in agriculture, education, health and infrastructure development among others.
ZANIS reports that Mrs Hichilema said this today in Lusaka, when she received 110 mattresses and 110 bicycles from the Republic of China.
Mrs Hichilema noted that the donation signifies the strong bond that the two countries have continued to share for a long time.
“ This donation means a lot to us. It defines the long strong, fruitful and friendly ties between the two countries”, she said.
Mrs Hichilema stated that Zambia looks forward to working with China in order to deepen the existing partnership which she said has brought great benefits to the people of Zambia.
She added that the support received from China is more than material contributions adding that it represents a shared commitment to uplifting communities and enhancing the quality of life for Zambians.
“ On behalf of President Hakainde Hichilema and the Zambian people kindly convey our sincere gratitude to the President and the First Lady in China for their continued support to our country”, Mrs Hichilema said.
And Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing has commended the Zambian government for the positive steps it has taken towards looking after the welfare of the vulnerable people in the country.
Mr Jing observed that China is impressed with the way the Zambian government is taking care of the marginalized in society, especially women and girls.
He added that this has prompted the Chinese government to invest in Zambia especially in the health sector.
“ We are constructing a hospital in Sinazongwe Southern Province. We hope this will help improve health care services in that province and surrounding areas”,
Mr Jing added that China also appreciates Zambia’s humanitarian and public welfare processes.
He noted that the Zambian government has made tremendous efforts in protecting the welfare and interests of vulnerable people in communities, hence China’s commitment to continue supporting Zambia.
“ I came here to Zambia in August this year, and as China we love the way women and children are protected here in Zambia”, he said.
