PrEP uptake impressive- DAPP

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Resource Mobilisation Officer, Jabez Kanyanda says that his organisation has recorded a significant increase in the number of people taking Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in its Total Control of HIV and TB program (TCE)

Mr Kanyanda says the developments made in the programme is as a result of DAPP’s deliberate effort of community sensitization and provision of personal HIV prevention methods to the people in high-risk areas.

He added that this has also been made possible through provision of information to the communities on the importance of prophylaxis in HIV prevention.

“We have seen a great improvement, as you know that in Zambia, recently the Ministry of Health has also launched the injectables for those who want to be on prophylaxis,” said Mr Kanyanda.

He also called on Zambians to support DAPP activities through purchase of items from its fundraising ventures dotted around the country.

He added that buying in DAPP shops is an indirect effort that is supporting orphans, street kids and vulnerable people by making an investment in their future.
