Government has delivered a new and modern X-ray machine to Mbala General Hospital in Northern Province.
Mbala District Commissioner Jestus Sikazwe has commended the government for the procurement of the state of the art X-ray machine in the district.
Speaking at Mbala General Hospital yesterday when he received the machine, Mr Sikazwe says it gratifying to receive an x-ray machine at a time when the district has had no x-ray machine since 2019.
The District Commissioner has also praised the government for prioritising the health sector and improving the welfare of the Zambian people.
“This development underscores the President’s commitment to uplifting healthcare standards, especially in rural areas,” Mr Sikazwe said.
And Mbala General Hospital Medical Superintendent, Emmanuel Sibale, has described the provision of a new x-ray machine as a relief not only to the general hospital but to the general public as well.
Sibale explained that patients in Mbala used to be referred to Mpulungu and Senga Hill District hospitals to access x-ray services.
“The machine will therefore ease the burden on both patients and hospital staff, before these people used to access these services in Mpulungu and Senga Hill,” Dr Sibale explained.
He has since thanked everyone who was involved in pushing for the provision of the X-ray machine.
Dr Sibale said the X-ray machine is expected to reduce the financial challenges for the general hospital and patients that were referred to access services from Mpulungu and Senga Hill district hospitals.
