CHIEF CALLS FOR PROJECTS INVESTIGATIONS

SUB Chief Mutondo of Mutondo Village in Lupososhi District in Northern Province has called on the Government to institute investigations and establish the cause of delays in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in the area.

The traditional leader says it is worrying that despite increased allocation and availability of funds, there is nothing to point at that has been done in the district.

Sub Chief Mutondo who said this in an interview with ZANIS in Lupososhi District said the area still lagged behind in terms of development.

“The Constituency Development Fund which the Government has brought is a game changer, the same funds that are released in Kabwata Constituency, are the same with us here. But the question is, why have we remained behind with absolutely nothing to refer to as a district when these funds are being released?” he asked.

The Sub chief further called on the Government to get involved in monitoring the utilization of CDF funds in the district if it is to get the results that are expected.

“I believe they are officers who are mandated to monitor the utilization of these funds either at provincial or national level respectively,

Please we need them to come through so that we are made to understand why only our district has nothing to show for, while the same funds are a game changer everywhere,” he added.

But when contacted for a comment, Lupososhi Town Council Chairperson,Kelvin Mwansa acknowledged the lack of development in the area.

Mr Mwansa expressed displeasure that the district has only had a one by three classroom block with a staff house commissioned this year.

“We just had one project commissioned early this year in Mufili Ward and this is dangerous for me as an elected leader. You know us politicians have to convince people with what we have achieved. But as things stand, we have not done according to the expectations of the people,’’ he said.

He has since urged new contractors to work effectively, in order to finish all projects scheduled for completion this year.
