MARCO Ferragina, a Brazilian skater has donated assorted skating equipment to the Skateboard Association of Zambia.
Ferragina, with support from other American individuals, has made the donation with the aim of providing a fun and engaging platform for kids to develop their skating skills.
And Brazilian Ambassador to Zambia, Arthur Nogueira who witnessed the handover of the skating equipment, stated that skating has potential to keep youths away from bad vices such as alcohol and drugs.
ZANIS reports that Mr Nogueira said skating is a big sporting activity in Brazil, adding that Zambians should emulate them.
Meanwhile, the Skateboard Association of Zambia (SAZ) has thanked various individuals based in the United States for donating assorted sporting equipment to the association.
SAZ President Elijah Zgambo says skating is a great way to promote physical activity, self-confidence, and social skills among skaters.
Zgambo pledged to put the equipment to good use, noting that SAZ has introduced a skating programme for kids in the country, to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
The donation includes 26 decks, 10 sets of wheels, 3 sets of bearings, 3 sets of screws and tools, t-shirts among others.
