EASTERN Province Minister Peter Phiri has called on farmers to exploit the Sustainable Agriculture Financing Facility (SAFF) in responding to the current unfavourable climatic conditions.
Mr Phiri says SAFF offers support to promote irrigation and diversification in farming.
He has noted that keen application of options available under the programme responds to challenges the farming community has continued to face, like drought.
The Minister, who was speaking in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services, stated that the government is this season upscaling and improving the implementation of the programme after drawing lessons from the previous season when it was being implemented for the first time.
He has since advised farmers to engage agricultural officers in their respective districts in order to be guided on the processes of the programme.
