Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) General Secretary, Reuben Kamanga says Copper Queens’ skipper Barbara Banda’s achievement is a significant milestone for the country.
Kamanga says Banda deserves the award as she has performed exceptionally well for both her club and the national team.
In an exclusive interview with ZANIS sports, Kamanga said his office is proud of Banda’s achievements at home and abroad adding that this is inspiring to young players.
“She performed well at the Olympics, and her records and club performances speak volumes. She deserves the accolades. Young female players will be inspired by Banda and Rachael Kundananji,” Kamanga said.
Stressing that Zambian football is progressing positively, Kamanga added that Banda’s achievement will motivate many young girls to take up football.
He further urged the shipolopolo skipper to remain disciplined and focused to achieve even more accolades.
Meanwhile, soccer analyst Yotham Mwanza expressed his delight over Barbara Banda’s achievement and her impressive performances at both club and national levels.
Mwanza noted that Banda has consistently put Zambian football on the global map, adding that her achievements will inspire young talents in the country to join soccer.
Banda is also among the players nominated for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.
