ABOUT 472 women in Lupososhi District are expected to benefit from additional funding under phase five of the Girls Empowerment and Women Livelihoods (GEWEL) programme.
Lupososhi District Community Development Officer, Dean Mweemba told ZANIS in an interview in Lupososhi that the beneficiaries are those who had earlier been empowered with grants under the same programme.
Mr. Mweemba explained that beneficiaries who had received K3,700 will be given an additional K1,700 as top up under the programme.
Mr Mweemba said the funds will be given to help the beneficiaries tackle inflation that has continued to affect them on the program.
He explained that the department in the district has since started collecting and verifying details of beneficiaries in readiness for the disbursement.
“We don’t want a situation where when it is time for funds to be disbursed, beneficiaries have challenges to collect their money due to technological issues like blocked SIM cards, or something like that. This is we now collecting and verifying details of beneficiaries,” he said.
Mr. Mweemba explained that the 472 beneficiaries are expected to start collecting their funds once all the necessary works are done.
