MEN’S NETWORK SUPPORT BOYS EDUCATION ON GBV

MEN’S Network for Gender and Development National Coordinator Nelson Banda has seconded President Hakainde Hichilema’s call for boys to be educated on Gender Based Violence (GBV) issues early.

During the launch of the 16 days of Gender Activism against GBV On November 25, 2024, President Hakainde Hichilema stated that there is need for boys to be brought into the fight against GBV equation and advocate for GBV lessons to be offered to them regularly in order to bring up decent and responsible men in societies.

Mr Banda acknowledged that  a boy child is often left out on important lessons of life such as GBV and sexual harassment ignoring the impact that such may have on society in the future.

Mr Banda told ZANIS that when male children are taught on GBV issues at an early stage, they will in future become good advocates who will not only help reduce GBV cases but also help boys become responsible men in communities.

Mr Banda stated that the men’s network has put in place various programmes to educate both boys and men on GBV and other male pressing issues.
