THE United Party for National Development (UPND) Chairman General for Special Duties, William Banda says the new Dawn Administration remains committed to ensuring development throughout the country.
Mr. Banda says to achieve this fit, the new dawn administration under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration will always rely on civil servants’ expertise and experience.
President Hichilema has so much respect and trust for civil servants whom he considers to possess vast knowledge , he said, adding that this can change the narrative of sound development.
Speaking yesterday during the courtesy call on Shiwangandu District Commissioner Maureen Bwembya, Mr. Banda explained that President Hichilema will keep supporting the devolution of powers.
“Next year the Head of State wishes to increase more funding to all departments and ensuring that the working environment as well as improved transport so that they can reach out to all Zambians in the remotest area,” he said.
And Shiwangandu District Commissioner Maureen Bwembya commended all civil servants in the District for their dedication to duty and upholding integrity.
Ms. Bwembya said her office appreciates all government empowerment initiatives the District has benefited from.
Among these initiatives are the Cash for work which she said has changed standards of living in rural areas such as Shiwangandu.
Meanwhile, works on the new civic center which is being constructed under the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) have advanced in Shiwangandu.
Speaking during the tour at the site, Mr. Banda commended the Council Secretary Isaac Mwale fort the initiative.
He said where there is a need to add value, CDF must be used as it solves some of the challenges such as office accomodations in Shiwangandu.
He called on other councils to learn from the initiatives Shiwangandu town council has used rather than waiting for President Hichilema to make directives.
“This is a good initiative ba CS (Council Secretary), keep on working and will support you,” he said.
The Team also donated second-hand clothes to the people of Shiwangandu on behalf of the First Family.
