CONSTRUCTION of a K4.3 million Kasima Bulk Market in Mongu District has been completed.
Mongu Town Clerk, Oliver Muck, confirmed that the market, which has both a storage for bulk products and market shelter and will accommodate about 300 traders for various products, will soon be operational.
“This market is supposed to be serving two purposes, it is supposed to be a bulk market receiving bulk goods where other markets are supposed to be supplied from. Other than that, where we are standing is a market shelter for the green market where the normal trading will be done,” Mr Muuka said.
He said that the market was only remaining with water and electric connectivity for it to open to the public for use.
Mongu Municipal Council Director of Engineering, Jones Siang’andu stated that the market has other supporting structures that include access roads and a car park.
Mr Siang’andu mentioned that the 800 meters access roads are already completed while the car park is nearing completion.
“Kasima bulk market has other supporting structures, we have 800 meters access roads and 1.8 kilometre car park. In terms of access roads we are 100 percent complete and we are concluding with the car park which is at 98 percent completion, we are just remaining with the riding surface so that vehicles don’t get stuck,” Mr Siang’andu explained.
