MBALA Municipal Council has procured earth moving equipment using the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The procured equipment is a Tractor Loader backhoe costing over K2.4 million.

Mbala Town Council Town Clerk, Laura Munkanta who received the equipment said the procurement of the tractor loader backhoe now completes the set of equipment in the district.

Ms Munkanta explained that earlier the local authority had procured a grader, a tipper truck, and Front-End loader.

She has since expressed confidence that the coming of the equipment will help in maintaining the road network in the district.

Ms Munkanta explained that the acquisition of the machinery through the CDF will enable the council to undertake rehabilitation of the dilapidated feeder roads to standard gravel across the district.

She said this will help to enhance the social and economic activities in the district.

Ms Munkanta has since commended the government for capacitating local authorities to procure heavy duty machinery.
