Kafue Member of Parliament Miriam Chonya has handed over a one by three classroom block to Lishiko Primary School.
The classroom block, furnished with 75 double-seater desks, has been constructed at a cost of about K 1,198,930 using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) budget allocation.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Ms Chonya said this reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing quality education.
“This classroom block we are officially handing over today is furnished with 75 desks and built at a total cost of K1,198,930 from the 2023 CDF budget allocation,” Ms Chonya said.
Education plays a vital role in development as it acts as a bridge between aspirations and opportunities, enabling individuals to transform their lives and communities.
The lawmaker further urged learners at Lishiko Primary School to safeguard the classroom block and to use the new building to motivate them to aspire for greatness.
Meanwhile, District Education Board Secretary Belinah Moono said the handed-over of the classroom block would enable the school to address the longstanding challenge for classroom space.
Mrs Moono noted that the classroom block and the desks will go a long way in a quest to provide quality education to the learners.
“This classroom block and desks provided will go a long way in providing quality education to our learners and this will increase the enrolment capacity for the school,” Mrs Moono said.
And Senior Headman Lishiko thanked the government for the infrastructure development in his area adding that it will go a long way in improving the quality of education among his subjects.
