Luwingu District Education Board Secretary, Juanita Mulenga has advised teachers in the area to upgrade their professional papers.
Mrs Mulenga says it is important for teachers to upgrade their qualification to a degree level if they want to head the schools.
She said this when she was presenting her report during the 4th quarter District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) held at the council chamber yesterday.
Expressing her concern that a number of primary teachers are still stuck with their certificates, it is difficult for authorities to upgrade them to senior positions like school head and deputy positions for degree holders.
“ Most of the teachers in remote areas are still holding on to the primary school certificate making it difficult for the ministry of education to confirm them as head and deputy teachers, “ she said.
However, she assured the committee that some teachers in her department have upgraded their qualification and will be confirmed soon.
And Luwingu District Commissioner, Chomba Chileshe urged the DEBS to continue sensitising the teachers so that they also upgrade their qualifications.
