The Chairperson for the movement of maize within North-western Province by Defence trucks from the Satellite depots to the main depot, Brigadier General Percival Nsama, says the exercise is progressing well.
Speaking in Solwezi District during the annual ball for army officers, Brig Gen Nsama said the army is working to ensure that the maize is collected from all the satellite depots to the main depot as food security is one of the most important issues to the governance of the country.
Brig Gen Nsama has advised farmers not to panic as all their maize will be collected by defence trucks and ferried to the main Food Reserve Agency (FRA) depot.
He indicated that the province still has a lot of maize from the last farming season in some satellite depots that need to be transported to the main depots.
