MEASLES BREAKS OUT IN NALOLO

Nalolo District in Western Province has recorded a confirmed case of measles.

Confirming the development to ZANIS in an interview, Nalolo District Health Director, Douglas Singini disclosed that the outbreak has been recorded at Sinungu Rural Health Centre, located in the West Bank area of the district.

“We have one confirmed case of measles in our community, recorded in the last week of November. Our health teams are actively monitoring the situation and working to contain the outbreak,” he said.

Dr Singini further said that tests were conducted on the suspected cases, and two samples came out negative.

“We urge the community to be vigilant and report any symptoms of measles immediately so that we can contain the disease,” he pointed out.

The Health Director emphasised the importance of vaccinations in preventing the spread of measles.

Dr Singini has since encouraged all parents to ensure that their children are vaccinated during immunisation exercises.
