CHASEFU COUNCIL REVIEWS DEVELOPMENT IN THE DISTRICT

CHASEFU Town Council Chairperson Chimwemwe Banda has assured the Langwani community that the government remains committed to developing rural areas and ensuring that every citizen benefits from the developmental projects.

This assurance came after several residents voiced concerns that their area was being overlooked in terms of development, particularly in the selection of key government initiatives.

Addressing the issue during a community engagement, Ms Banda acknowledged the concerns raised by the residents but emphasised that the government was actively working to bring equitable development to all areas as witnessed through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation.

She explained that a Satellite Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) will be established to work closely with the Community Welfare Assistance Committees (CWACs) and the Ward Development Committees (WDCs) to identify and select eligible beneficiaries for the Cash for Work Programme and related avenues.

Ms. Banda further urged the community to work together in identifying priority projects and submit them to the Local Authority through the WDCs to ensure that the most pressing needs of the area were addressed.
