TRADITIONAL leaders in Kalomo district have commended government for constructing chiefs’ palaces under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Chief Chikanta’s representative Fabias Siamisamu says the construction of palaces for the traditional leaders shows government’ concern over the welfare of the traditional leaders in the governance structure.
And representing Chief Siachitema, Titus Nanjame, also thanked the government for giving chiefs the respect and dignity they deserve in their respective chiefdoms adding that the construction of palaces by government is the first in the history of the country.
This came to light during an inspection of the on-going construction works of chiefs palaces in Chikanta and Siachitema Chiefdoms done by the Zambia correctional services (ZCS) under the CDF.
ZANIS reports that both Chief Chikanta and Siachitema palaces have reached 90 per cent complete with each palace valued at K4 million.
The palace is designed with a house for the chief, two retainers’ houses and an office block.
