LUSAKA Province Minister Sheal Mulyata has commended investors who are complimenting government efforts in improving the welfare of people in communities they operate from.
Ms Mulyata made the commendation during the handover of a bridge constructed by Velos Enterprises limited along the Chibengele stream in Chamulimba ward of Bunda Bunda chiefdom,in a speech read on her behalf by Rufunsa District Commissioner, Richard Mabena.
Ms. Mulyata said that government appreciates the gesture by Velos enterprises who have worked on the road network and constructed a bridge at a cost of K1 Million to enhance development in the area.
She said that the government wants to take development to all corners of the country and it appreciates investors who are complimenting its efforts.
“Government is committed to enhancing development throughout the country and this gesture by Velos is a welcome move,” said Ms. Mulyata.
She added that the construction of the bridge across the Chibengele stream will open up the area to development.
“Am very much aware that you have not yet started mining but I want to mention here that as a government, we are happy with what you are doing through your social corporate responsibility to this community of Kazemba and Kabulanshishi,” added Ms. Mulyata.
And Chief Bunda Bunda and Rufunsa Town Council Chairperson, Kennedy Mailoni also commended Velos Enterprises Limited for their contributions to infrastructure development in the area.
Chief Bunda Bunda appreciated the company for investing in the chiefdom and giving back to the communities even before operations commence.
“This gesture by Velos is a good sign that once they start operating more is expected from them, especially that they will be mining copper which will benefit a lot of people,” said Chief Bunda Bunda.
Meanwhile, Velos Enterprises Limited Public Relations officer Chanda Simpindu reaffirmed the company’s commitment in working with the government in service delivery.
Ms. Simpindu said the company has also worked on the 13 Kilometer road from the Great East Road to their site costing about K260 thousand and that the bridge cost one million Kwacha.
