YOUNG PEOPLE URGED TO EMBRACE FREE EDUCATION

A 41 year old woman of Chiyanga Village in Chief Tafuna of the Lungu people of Mpulungu and Mbala has encouraged young people to take advantage of the free education policy and go to school.

Annie Nachilima, who has gone back to school following the introduction of the free education policy, has observed that the development gives an opportunity for children from poor families to attain their education and improve their lives.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview, Ms Nachilima said she feels bad that most of her friends are working while she is not and is hopeful that with the current education she is undergoing, she will be able to at least know how to read and write.

She stated that she has decided to go back to school following the introduction of the free education which she feels can help her attain some level of education.

Ms Nachilima, who has so far gone up to grade three, says she feels sad that she never even completed her primary school due to lack of support and has since urged young people to go to school and get educated before it is too late.

She has observed that education is important in one’s life and that she would like to pull through with her education and reach secondary school level.

Ms Nachilima, a business lady, has wondered why boys and girls are not taking advantage of the free education policy which she said is regrettable.
