KARIBA PRIMARY/SECONDARY SCHOOL RECEIVES CLASSROOM BLOCK

KARIBA North Bank Extension Power Corporation (KNBEPC) Limited has constructed a 1 by 2 classroom block at Kariba Primary and Secondary School in Kariba ward of Siavonga District.

The classroom block has been constructed at the cost of K700,000 through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

KNBEPC Limited Chief Executive Officer CEO Boyd Kanchela says the corporation has also procured 50 double -seater desks, three executive office chairs and office desk for the new classroom block.

Mr Kanchela notes that the classroom block project was a reflection of the company’s commitment to CSR and its belief that businesses can and should play a crucial role in societal development.

ZANIS reports that the CEO was speaking during the handover of the classroom block to the Government.

Mr Kanchela narrated that education was the foundation of a bright future adding that the new facilities at the school will provide the students with the opportunities and resources they needed to achieve their full potential.

“As we handover this project, we do so with a sense of fulfilment and a renewed commitment to continue supporting initiatives that foster growth, development and well-being in our community,” he said.

Speaking at the same event, KNBEPC Limited Acting Board Chairperson Justine Loongo said the new facilities were a testament to the company’s dedication to creating opportunities for the next generation.

Mr Loongo who was represented by KNBEPC Limited Board Member Rachael Zekko urged the learners at the school to take advantage of the classrooms to work hard and dream big, reminding them that education was a key to unlocking their potential.

Earlier, Siavonga District Commissioner Geoffrey Jakopo commended KNBEPC Limited for supplementing the Government’s effort in improving the education sector in the tourist town.

Mr Jakopo mentioned that with the introduction of the free education policy by the Government, over 2 million pupils in the country that had dropped out of school have gone back to school thereby increasing the demand for classroom infrastructure.

And Siavonga District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Moses Mung’ambata thanked KNBEPC for constructing the classroom block saying it will ease overcrowding and provide a conducive learning environment for learners.

Mr Mung’ambata disclosed that the school has no science laboratory and appealed to KNBEPC Limited and other well-wishers to consider building a laboratory which was most needed at the learning institution.
