MINISTRY of Health Permanent Secretary in Charge of Administration Kennedy Lishimpi has thanked the Israel’s Save a Child’s Heart and Tanzania’s Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute for collaborating with the National Heart Hospital to offer open heart surgery to children at the institution.
ZANIS reports that Dr Lishimpi notes that the commitment, expertise and compassion have contributed to recording a success improving the health care system particularly in the areas of pediatrics, cardiology and pediatrics heart surgery.
He noted that the government will continue collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring that the healthcare institutions are equipped with resources, expertise and technology.
“We are making tremendous strides in pediatrics healthcare and the impact in today’s mission will be felt for many years to come,” he said.
Dr Lishimpi further thanked the donors who donated cardiac echo machines that it will transform lives of the children who had no access to the vital care.
Israeli Ambassador to Zambia Ofra Farhi stated that the cooperation represents the best of international cooperation and humanitarian commitment.
“We proud to see this collaboration that brings hope and healing to children and families in Zambia and beyond,
“Israel’s dedication to training medical professionals and sharing life-saving expertise underscores our deep belief in the power of partnership to create a healthier world,” she said.
