SOLWEZI Youth Alive, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has commended Cabinet for approving the return of national service training programme for youths.
Solwezi Youth Alive Programmes Officer Kelvin Moonde has told ZANIS in an interview today that the programme will play a key role in inculcating discipline in young people and it should be supported by all well-meaning Zambia’s.
Mr Moonde said the programme will give an opportunity to youths in acquiring survival skills and enable them to contribute to the country’s development.
“The coming of Voluntary National Service Training will give a lot of opportunities to our young people to be trained. Instill discipline in them and acquire skills that will not only be useful to their families but to the country’s development at large, ” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Moonde has applauded President Hakainde Hichilema for committing himself to sponsor 156 youths from different Constituencies.
“I just want to say thank you very much, we are grateful as an organisation to his excellency for leading as an example by offering to support 156 youths in all the constituencies. This shows that the President has the heart for the young people, hence my advice to them is that when you are given such an opportunity, you take it by heart and you show commitment and resilience,” he said.
He added that Solwezi Youth Alive believes that the voluntary National Service training will also help youths stop engaging in bad vices such as abuse of alcohol and drugs among others.
