CHIEF NDUNGU APPLAUDS GOVT. FOR IMPLEMENTING GOOD POLICIES

SENIOR Chief Ndungu of the Luvale people in Zambezi District has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for implementing sound policies that he believes are steering the country in the right direction.

Senior Chief Ndungu expressed satisfaction for President Hichilema and his administration’s efforts in driving the country to greater heights.

Furthermore, Senior Chief Ndungu praised President Hichilema for prioritising national development.

He noted that, in addition to this commitment, the United Party for National Development (UPND) has fulfilled many of its campaign promises, which he described as historical.

Chief Ndungu emphasised that, unlike during the previous governments, the development under the UPND administration is unprecedented, citing that many areas have transformed into bustling construction sites.

ZANIS reports that the traditional leader said this during the commissioning of a newly constructed Makanga Health Post funded by the 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Zambezi today.

“This is why you are witnessing development everywhere, not only here in Makanga but across the country, it’s because of the government’s good policies,” Senior Chief Ndungu said.

Chief Ndungu has pledged to support President Hichilema and his administration in fostering development in his Chiefdom.

He also urged contractors in his chiefdom to avoid shoddy work and theft of materials, emphasising that such actions deprive the community of the much-needed development.

The traditional leader further stated that he will soon begin visiting project sites to inspect work being undertaken in his chiefdom to ensure quality.

“I do not tolerate poor workmanship, and I urge all contractors in my chiefdom to avoid it. I will review each project, and if I find wrongdoings, that contractor will be asked to leave my chiefdom; it indicates they have no interest in serving my people,” the chief warned.

Meanwhile, Senior Chief Ndungu cautioned village headmen and women against engaging in witchcraft and harassing civil servants deployed in his chiefdom, stating that anyone found guilty will be banished from the village.

And Acting District Commissioner (DC) Anos Luvuwa, who spoke earlier, expressed gratitude to the government for its support.

Meanwhile, Zambezi West Member of Parliament Vumango Musumali reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing quality healthcare services in various communities through the construction of health posts.

Mr Musumali emphasised that the government will continue to address community challenges throughout the country by distributing national resources equitably.

He also assured the Makanga community that a maternity annex equipped with power and water utilities will be provided, following a Presidential directive.

Acting District Health Director Boyd Ndiulu thanked the government for the new facility, noting that it will improve healthcare service and reduce the long distances that Makanga residents currently have to travel to access medical services.

Mr Nduilu also assured residents that the facility will be stocked with all necessary medicines and staffed by trained personnel.
