ZNS OFFICERS URGED TO BE PROFESSIONAL

ZAMBIA National Service (ZNS) Commander Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi has emphasised the need for vigilance and professionalism among staff.

Lt. Gen Solochi says it is important for officers to remain vigilant and professional in order to sustain and secure the environment in the northern region.

ZANIS reports that Lieutenant General Soclochi said this in a speech read for him by Zambia National Service Northern Region Commandant Brigadier General Tyson Nyirenda during the 2024 officers Annual Ball held at Chishimba Falls Officer Mess.

Lt. Gen Solochi says the service has made significant progress in managing operations, particularly in protecting vital national resources such as maize, mealie meal, and Mukula tree.

He has expressed satisfaction with the progress made at the ZNS Mbala Production Unit, describing it as a promising turnaround.

“It is encouraging to note that the ZNS Mbala production unit is showing encouraging signs of turning around the production story of the unit, we want to build on the progress made so far to continue progressing,’’ he said.

Lt. Gen Solochi commended the allocation of 25 hectares for common beans cultivation in the 2024/2025 farming season and the increased focus on horticultural production, especially in yellow maize and cabbage.

He added that these efforts reflect the command’s commitment to diversification and enhanced productivity.

Lt. Gen Solochi also pointed out that the poultry venture, which involves broiler chickens at various growth stages, underscores ZNS’s dedication to both food security and income generation.

The Zambia National Service Commander has also praised the Kasama Milling Plant for its instrumental role in addressing food security challenges, particularly in Mbala and Mpulungu Districts, since its inception in May.

He said by prioritising the safeguarding of national food and natural resources, ZNS is making a significant contribution to ensuring Zambia’s long-term sustainability and prosperity.

Meanwhile, president of the Mess Committee Major Mubanga Sikazwe has commended cooperating partners for their support.

“What you are seeing and yet to see has been as a result of hard work, dedication and innovation from officers. Let me also commend our cooperating partners for the support they continue giving us,” he said.

Major Sikazwe has since called for continued collaboration in different fields.
