The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) in Nakonde District in Muchinga Province, has called for national prayers for President Hakainde Hichilema.
UPND Provincial Chairman Lovewell Nsofwa says the nation needs to pray for President Hakainde Hichilema’s divine protection.
Speaking during a meeting with party members in Nakonde today, Mr. Nsofwa said Mr. Hichilema needs prayers now more than ever.
This is given by recent concerns about his security and health after the arrest of two hired witch doctors.
Mr Nsofwa told the meeting that the President has a mandate to develop the country and improve citizens’ livelihoods, making it crucial to protect him from harm.
He questioned the intentions of those plotting against the President, stressing that the constitution clearly outlines Presidential term limits.
“Who told them that President Hakainde Hichilema will be the President of this country until his death? The constitution is very clear on how many times one can hold office of the Presidency,” Mr Nsofwa said.
The UPND Provincial Chairman expressed confidence that Zambians’ prayers would thwart any evil plans against the President.
Two male suspects, Jasten Mabulesse Cacunde, a 42-year-old Mozambican national, and Leonard Phiri, 43, confessed to being hired by Nelson Banda, young brother to fugitive Petauke Central Law-maker Jay Jay Banda to bewitch the President.
The suspects allegedly received a down payment of K16,500 from a total promised K2 million upon completing their mission.
