Thirty-two years old Moley Mweemba ‘s Christmas celebrations were cut short after her life was cut short due to electrocution.
Mweemba’s planned Christmas celebrations could not continue after she unexpectedly got electrocuted after leaning on an innocently looking wire fence but was highly charged.
ZANIS reports that this was when the now deceased together with her colleagues were in the process of procuring chickens in readiness for Christmas celebrations.
Southern Province Officer Commanding Auxensio Daka confirmed in an interview that the said Mweemba perished upon leaning on an electrified fence while purchasing the said chickens.
According to Mr Daka, the incident occurred around 04:30 hours on Christmas day when the deceased together with three others went to buy a chicken from Mr Cephas Musoni of Siansowa township.
It was during the process of buying the chicken that the deceased Moley Mweemba leaned on the electrified fence mounted on the poultry house fence and got electrocuted.
Moley Mweemba of Mweemba chiefdom in Siansowa village was immediately rushed to Siansowa health facility but breathed her last upon arrival.
The matter was reported to Maamba Police station as Brought in Dead (BID) and the body has already been deposited into the Maamba general hospital mortuary.
Mr Daka said Police, working with experts from ZESCO, immediately rushed to the scene upon receiving a report on the incident.
“As Zambia Police Service we have instituted investigations into the matter to establish whether there was any criminal negligence on the chicken business owner which resulted in the death of a person”, he stated.
