Kalulushi District Commissioner, Kelly Jibinga has expressed displeasure with the grade sevens who have come out number seven in the Copperbelt Province.
Speaking during a stakeholders meeting, Mr Jibinga has also called on the Ministry of Education to improve on the literacy levels of the children in Kalulushi District.
ZANIS reports that Mr Jibinga says the grade seven results in Kalulushi are a sign that the literacy levels for the children are not up to date.
He says the reading levels for children are low, hence the need for teachers to improve in their work.
“Government means well, but we will need as implementers to do something in order for the children to improve,” said Mr Jibinga.
Parents can help, but mostly the teachers have a lot to do, as the Government provides everything in the Ministry of Education for the children,” added Mr Jibinga.
He however, urged the teachers to identify children that are slow learners and teach them separately in their spare time.
Meanwhile, Mr Jibinga has commended the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) office for the grade nines, which have continued to come in third place in the province.
