The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has announced that it will continue working with the media on product safety education.
Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) Executive Director, Gerald Chizinga says the Agency will continue working closely with the media to ensure that only safe products are traded on the market.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS by ZCSA’s Communications and Public Relations Manager, Brian Hatyoka.
Mr Chizinga, said the Agency appreciates the important role the media plays in educating the public on different subjects especially on products adding that journalists are key partners in educating the public on ZCSA’s mandate of protecting consumers and the environment from unsafe products through enforcement of compulsory standards.
He was speaking in Lusaka today at ZCSA Head Office when he officially opened the Adjudication Exercise for the 2nd ZCSA Media Awards to be held during the first quarter of 2025.
Judges from the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia Chapter are currently evaluating entries received for the Media Awards.
Mr Chizinga has since implored the Judges to award Journalists whose articles meet the criteria of writing which is compelling, original, multi-sourced, relevant, unique, and grammatically sound plus a clear understanding of the Agency’s mandate.
Speaking on behalf of fellow judges, 2nd ZCSA Media Awards Adjudication Committee Chairperson, Henry Kabwe thanked the Agency for acknowledging the important role the media plays in society.
Mr Kabwe, a former Chairperson for MISA Zambia, and current Executive Director at the Media Network on Child Rights and Development (MNCRD), called on the media to enhance their reporting of the Agency’s mandate of protecting consumers and the environment from unsafe products.
