Following reports of a cholera outbreak in neighboring Nakonde District , Health Authorities in Senga Hill say they are on high alert against the water borne disease.
Senga Hill District Health Director Brian Mwansa says his office is on high alert to prevent any possible outbreak of Cholera in the area .
Dr Mwansa told ZANIS in an interview that his staff in Chozi, Ntembo and Chileshya areas have since heightened sensitization programmes on good hygiene practices against Cholera.
” The measures are aimed at preventing the further spread of disease which has broken out in the boarder town of Nakonde,” he said .
He has since urged people in the district to follow safety measures due to the proximity of the area to Nakonde which has recorded cases of cholera.
And Charles Sikalumbi, a resident of Mpande Chiefdom has urged residents travelling to Nakonde to take precautionary measures against Cholera.
Mr Sikalumbi called on people to be wary of Cholera as they conduct their business activities.
He noted that the business community in the neighbouring districts including Senga hill depend on Nakonde for their merchandise.
Acting Minister of Health, Douglas Syakalima, by broadcast time confirmed 13 cases of Cholera in Nakonde.
