USE CDF ALLOCATION PRUDENTLY


Siavonga District Commissioner Geoffrey Jakopo has cautioned those handling the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to ensure that the funds are used efficiently and prudently.

Mr Jakopo said the essence of CDF is to uplift communities, enhance educational facilities, and foster social economic development.

Speaking to ZANIS, Mr Jakopo says the increased Constituency Development Funds (CDF) should be used appropriately as it is meant for community development and improving the living standards of people.

He said those handling CDF must strictly follow the laid down procedures and processes in order to ensure the money is used well and reaches the intended beneficiaries.

“Any misuse of public funds will not be tolerated this year and ours to work and work to ensure development,” he said.

He warned and challenged government workers and other public and private workers to work hard and to support the development of the district.

Mr Jakopo said there is a need for community members and people in the district to actively participate in the selection of projects that will be required to be funded under CDF and other developmental projects in their localities.

He said that the government’s plan to include District Commissioners as part of the Constituency Development Fund Committee was to ensure that the right thing is done to foster development.

The District Commissioner further urged the local authority and the Constituency Development Fund Committee to ensure working hand in hand in order to spearhead development and address various challenges in communities in 2025. 

Mr Jakopo said 2025 is a year for delivering and working hard emphasising the need for determination and focus in securing a better society.

On the other hand, the Siavonga DC, Mr Jakopo advised the farming community in the district to practice smart agriculture as they engage in agriculture activities this farming season.

He said the government has ensured that inputs and other needed initiatives are in place to ensure enhanced agricultural productivity amidst the changing climate conditions.

Mr Jakopo called on the Siavonga residents to actively engage in productive endeavours such as agriculture among others to spur development in the district.
