Dynamic Teacher’s Union of Zambia has pledged to address teacher indebtedness.
Dynamic Teacher’s Union of Zambia Secretary General, David Siamutwa says the committee will tackle the pressing issue of teacher indebtedness which he said has been linked to a rise in suicidal cases among teachers.
Mr Siamutwa emphasised that the union would work with relevant stakeholders to provide financial literacy to all its members, ensuring that teachers are not overwhelmed by debt.
ZANIS reports that the Secretary General said this today, during the launch of Dynamic Teachers Union Women’s Committee held in Lusaka.
Mr Siamutwa, also disclosed that the committee will promote policies that support female teachers and fight for the gazettement of schools to ensure there is transparency in promotions and employment.
He further added that the union will stand on a four pillar agenda which is employee rights, social dialogue, social protection and Job creation which will help in addressing teacher women welfare.
Mr Siamutwa further stated that the union has a role to represent its members and make sure their rights are upheld.
