Ministry of Information and Media Director Spokesperson Henry Kapata says the recent recruitment of 21 health personnel who were volunteering at Maina Soko Military Hospital is a positive step towards the provision of quality Healthcare services.
Mr Kapata notes that the massive recruitment of health staff coupled with infrastructure development dotted across the country, is evidence of the government’s commitment to improving health services for all Zambians.
ZANIS reports that the Director said this when he visited Maina Soko Military Hospital to interact with the newly recruited health workers.
“With all these health institutions being constructed, with the directive from President Hakainde Hichilema suggesting that each and every health institution must have a provision for a maternity annex, we are headed in the right direction “, he said.
The Director Spokesperson has since urged the 21 newly recruited personnel at the hospital to exercise diligence in service delivery in order to contribute to the actualisation of the government’s vision of delivering quality health services.
And Maina Soko Military Hospital Deputy Commandant Colonel Doctor Patson Banda who represented the Commandant Brigadier General Doctor Levy Muchemwa during the meeting expressed gratitude for the new staff.
He expressed hope that the government will continue to employ more health workers in order to capacitate health institutions to deliver quality services.
“We thank you that with government’s support, this will continue until we have the desired numbers in terms of staffing levels so that we can operate as required.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed health workers have expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Patricia Masosa, a nurse, explained that she faced financial challenges during her time as a volunteer at the Hospital.
She has since thanked the Zambia National Service Commander, Maina Soko management and government at large for empowering her by employing her.
Medical Doctor Karen Banda stated that despite the challenges faced during her time as a volunteer, she acquired skills and experience at the institution.
Dr Banda has since urged volunteers in the health sector to perform their duties diligently as they wait for such an opportunity in order to enable them deliver quality services.
