PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has hailed the Late Former President of the United States Jimmy Carter for his contributions to world democracy, especially in Africa.
President Hichilema says the Late President Carter was a true statesman who dedicated himself to the service of the world even beyond his term of office.
He adds that President Carter should be emulated for his commitment to family, which he exemplified in his work and life.
ZANIS reports that the Head of State was speaking today at the American Embassy shortly after signing the book of condolence.
President Hichilema has since thanked the American Government for the opportunity to express his condolences through the embassy and for the long standing relations with Zambia.
And Acting American Ambassador to Zambia Linnisa Wahid highlighted the strong relations between Zambia and the United States of America which stems from Kenneth Kaunda’s rule.
The late President Carter served as President of the United States from 1977 to 1981 and died at the age of 100 on December 29th 2024.
