PRESIDENT HICHILEMA COMMENDS CHURCH CHARITABLE WORK


President Hakainde Hichilema has hailed the church for its role in supporting the vulnerable in society.


Speaking when he attended Sabbath at Njanji Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Lusaka, President Hichilema said that the government is always watching what the Dorcas Mothers are doing to help vulnerable people.


President Hichilema commended the humanitarian outreach services in communities, stating that it is a noble duty of the church.


And the Head of State has urged the church to continue helping families remain strong especially amid challenges such as the drought.


President Hichilema noted that 2024 was a difficult year, reminding that it was a time when the country faced the worst drought disaster, triggering food and energy insecurity, and a slowdown in the economy.



He noted that economic development is the very issue that the people of Zambia expect the government to drive.



“Let us help our families to be strong in all circumstances, because when that is achieved our church will be strong and the country at large, then we can ride over the difficulties that we are having ,” President Hichilema said.



The President, however, urged people to thank God for 2024, stating that the country managed to pull through the challenges experienced.



Giving sermon, SDA South Zambia Union Conference President, Vanny Munyumbwe, those holding leadership positions in the government to focus their energies on building a nation that benefits everyone.



Dr Munyumbwe stated that government officials are meant to occupy leadership positions for a purpose, which is to serve diligently and avoid corrupt activities.



Dr Munyumbwe urged people to remain faithful to God who prevails over every difficult challenge that the county may be faced with.


He also implored all Zambians to play their part in making the country economically strong.


Meanwhile, President Hichilema made a contribution of K200 thousand towards the development of Njanji SDA church, a gesture that elated Njanji SDA Church Pastor George Mwansa, who thanked the Head of State for supporting church activities.
