CHINESE Deputy Ambassador to Zambia Wang Sheng has disclosed that a Chinese Company plans to construct a mealie meal plant in Solwezi.
This is among the many investment projects amounting to 1.3 billion US Dollar investment commitment China made to Zambia.
Speaking during a courtesy call on North-Western Province Minister, Mr Sheng stated that the Province is among the top priority investment areas they have in the country.
“A Chinese company will put up a mealie meal plant in Solwezi and soon a study group will soon come to Zambia to conduct feasibility studies to find the actual location” Mr Sheng said.
Mr Sheng further stated that another Chinese Company will put up a Solar energy plant is up in Kasempa district, a project scheduled to start by March this year.
“We can see the energy deficit in the Province and another of Chinese solar companies are planning to invest in Zambia,” Mr Sheng said.
And North-Western Province Minister Robert Lihefu has thanked the people of the Republic of China for honoring their invitation to invest in the Province.
Mr Lihefu urged the Chinese people to equally consider investing in honey processing among the many investments they wish to put up in the Province.
“Let me also take this opportunity to invite you again and again to invest in North-Western Province” Mr Lihefu said.
Meanwhile, Solwezi Constituency Member of Parliament Stafford Mulusa, urged the Chinese people to ensure that the milling plant that will be put up is big enough to supply mealie meal even to the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mr Mulusa also said the Chinese investment is a clear indication that the Presidential visitations to China have now started yielding fruits.
