KASEMPA Town Council Secretary Bridget Mungandi says the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is a real demonstration of the government’s decentralisation agenda.
Mrs Mungandi, says the K30.6 million allocations to each Constituency in 2024 was a proactive move towards decentralisation being fully implemented.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Kasempa today, Mrs Mungandi said the district has been empowered by CDF which gives the Ward Development Committees (WDC) power to make decisions regarding priority projects.
She stated that power has literally been given to the local people because the WDC represents people at grassroots level.
Mrs Mungandi highlighted a number of CDF projects from the total allocation of 30.6 Million saying 60 percent was invested in infrastructure development across all wards in the area.
“We have done a good number of projects from the total allocation of K30.6 Million, 60 percent of the money which comes to K16.5 Million was invested in infrastructure development under community projects across all 24 wards and school projects, among others,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mrs Mungandi also said the council has completed the construction of four Maternity Annexes at the Kamakechi, Jifumpa, and one at Kelongwa among others.
“The Maternity Annex will reduce the challenges that the residents have been facing in seeking better health care services,” Mrs Mungandi said.
Mrs Mungandi said Kasempa Town Council remains committed to uplift the health standards and make sure that health services are provided in the conducive environment that will lessen any challenges faced by Rural health Centre’s.
She further commended the government for its significant support of various developments in 2024 through the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
