NEW CURRICULUM TO TARGET OUTCOME IN LEARNERS – KASAMBILA

Government says  the new Zambian School curriculum has been re-aligned to the aspirations of the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP) and the Vision 2030.

Chirundu District Commissioner Patrick Kasambila says the new curriculum is President Hakainde Hichilema’s tool, which his administration is using to achieve the 8NDP.

Other than this, the curriculum is also as a vehicle of accelerating the attainment of the Vision 2030, as espoused in the 2021-2026 UPND manifesto, aimed at bettering the lives of Zambians, he says.

The Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) reports that Mr Kasambila in an interview explained that the New Dawn Government decided to revise the old curriculum which focused mainly on attaining an “outcome” instead of “competence” for learners.

The new Zambia Education Curriculum Framework Syllabi will also address some of the teething educational gaps identified in the previous curriculum as it was not in tandem with global education trends.

The new Zambia Education Curriculum Framework Syllabi speaks to the broader vision of the New Dawn Administration’s “Free Education Policy”, societal and other developmental needs.

For this reason, Chirundu District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Judith Kapale and her team  have been advised to quickly ensure that the implementation of the new curriculum goes smoothly.

He assured the general public and key stakeholders in the education sector to fully embrace the implementation of the new curriculum as schools open for the first term of the 2025 School Calendar.
