The government has so far disbursed over K 13 million for the cash for work (CFW) programme in Kasenengwa District, Eastern Province.
Assistant Director of Engineering George Siyansingu says out of the disbursed funds, more than K 7 million has so far been spent on beneficiaries.
ZANIS reports that Mr. Siyansingu said this during the 4th quarter of the District Development Coordinating Committee DDCC meeting held in Chiparamba.
“There are several activities that have been going on under this programme such as pothole patching and road works among others”, he said.
A total of 12, 558 people have so far been from the inception of the programme.
Of this figure, a total of 12, 452 beneficiaries had so far been paid out.
Mr Siyansingu explained that the remaining 106 people that were engaged were yet to be paid stating incorrect details as one of the reasons that led to the delay.
“Some of the beneficiaries submitted incorrect details while others had inactive sim cards at the time payments were being made”, he disclosed.
The Assistant Director of Engineering said the local authority has seen an improvement in the quality of work as well as the data being submitted.
“We have also seen an improved quality of data that is being submitted following the deployment of data clerks in the district”, he said.
