Central Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Godfrey Chitambala has called on the Ministry of Finance and National Planning to mobilise funds for the completion of stalled developmental projects in the province.
Mr Chitambala said that the province is grappling with a challenge of completing a number of projects among them incomplete construction of school infrastructure and health centres in the districts.
He was speaking when a delegation from the Public Investment Planning Department paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
“We are excited to receive you in the province. We have a number of stalled projects that need funding. Our only appeal to the Ministry of Finance and National Planning is to expedite the process of funding such projects,” he said.
Mr Chitambala urged the delegation to interact with the people in all the districts they will be visiting to appreciate their challenges.
Public Investment Planning Department Team leader Brian Nshindamo said the Ministry will assess the situation on stalled projects in the province starting with six districts to establish how much is needed.
Mr Nshindano named the districts as Chibombo, Kabwe, Luano, Kapiri Mposhi, Mkushi and Serenje.
He said his team will work closely with the district leadership and the people themselves in the named districts in identifying projects that need to be prioritized.
He said the Ministry of Finance is equal to the task of securing funding for some of the stalled developmental projects so that they can start serving their purpose.
