KAFUE COUNCILLOR LOSES SEAT WITH ONE OTHER EXPELLED

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has expelled two of its members, following violation of the party’s disciplinary regulations.

Speaking during a media briefing, Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa says that his party has expelled Frazer Moonde, and Kebby Sikangila who were Deputy Chair Rural Development and Kafue Chisankane Ward Councillor respectively.

Mr Mweetwa adds that the duo have been expelled from the party, after failing to follow laid down procedures when airing their views and attacking their fellow party members on social media which is contrary to the party’s regulations.

He added that, Frazer Moonde, who was a member of the National Management Committee and Kebby Sikangila, were accorded an opportunity to exculpate themselves and only Kebby Sikangila availed himself and failed to satisfy the reasons for his retention.

“The committee, that heard his exculpation, upheld the recommendation to expel him from the party and accordingly therefore that he has lost his seat as a Councillor for Kafue Council and the ECZ therefore is dully notified to prepare for a by-election, said Mr Mweetwa.

Meanwhile, Citizens First National Chairman Mwanawina Kwibisa and Former National Youth Chairperson have defected to the UPND after developing interest in the vision of President Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr Kwibisa promised that the duo will sacrifice and serve the nation at their best, while maintaining loyalty to the UPND.
