MWENSE COUNCIL PROCURES EARTH MOVING EQUIPMENT 

MWENSE Town Council has procured earth moving equipment valued at over K16.7 Million.

ZANIS reports that Mwense Town Council Public Relations Officer, Jennipher Mapundu disclosed that the local authority has procured the equipment consisting of the BackHoe Loader, Bulldozer Roller Compactor and a Motor Grader.

Others are Low Bed Truck and Trailer, Water Bowser and a Tipper Truck using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Ms Mapundu stressed that the procurement of the earth moving equipment is a significant step by the local authority in improving infrastructure to enhance service delivery in the district.

The council spokesperson added that the equipment will particularly help the Council in creating new and maintenance of old roads to ease movement of people and goods in the district.

“The equipment will play a critical role in road maintenance works to provide accessible road networks within the district as well as in implementation of key infrastructure projects,” Ms Mapundu said.

Ms Mapundu explained that the local authority has immediate plans to grade the roads and construct the drainage system in the area.

She stated that the equipment will also be useful in clearing land earmarked for development such as building of housing units by the local authority.

Ms Mapundu added that all the 22 wards from two constituencies namely Mwense Central and Mambilima are expected to benefit.
