NAQEZ ELATED WITH 2024 GRADE 12 PERFORMANCE

THE National Action for Quality Education in Zambia NAQEZ has expressed happiness over the 2024 Grade 12 examination results.

Dr Chansa has stated that despite the challenges faced by the learners such as load shedding due to drought and changes in the school calendar they performed well in the exams.

NAQUEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa says the slight increase of pass rate of 68.17 percent this year from to 68.03 percent recorded in 2023 can only be attributed to the learners’ hard work and teachers’ dedication in making sure that learners were taught without barriers.

In an interview with ZANIS, Dr Chansa commended the Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) for ensuring that there were no leakages recorded last year countrywide.

He however, said that NEQUEZ has expressed concern over 100 exam malpractice cases that were recorded which reduced the integrity of results whichhe said is not good for the country’s education sector.

Dr Chansa urged the Provincial Education Officers and District Education Boards to always educate teachers and headmasters on the implications of exam malpractice in order to create sanity in the education sector.

He advised those sitting for grade 12 examinations this year to put more effort so that they obtain a 75 percent pass rate.

Dr Chansa also commended Eastern Province Provincial Education Officer and all the DEBS for coming out number one in the grade 12 list performance of 2024 and urged other provinces to emulate their hard work.

He further encouraged those who did not do well in their 2024 examination not to give up but instead enrol for GCE.

He has urged parents and guardians not to be had on their children who did not make it but encourage them to work hard next time to avoid suicide among pupils.
