CENTRAL Province Principal Agricultural Officer, Jane Moonga has commended the agriculture staff in Serenje District for supporting the Farmer Training Centre (FTC).

Speaking after a tour of demonstration plots at the training centre, Ms Moonga said she was impressed with the agricultural activities at the institute.

Ms Moonga, who led a team of officers from the Provincial Agriculture Office to train Agricultural Officers in Serenje on upgraded smart agriculture technologies under Zambia Growth and Opportunity Programme, said the activities will motivate farmers to take agriculture as a business.

She added that the agricultural activities on the demonstration plots will also help develop agriculture activities in the district.

 “I am impressed with the activities that are happening here and I encourage other centres in the province to take a leaf from the Serenje FTC so that we develop agriculture in the province,” she advised.

Ms Moonga also called on farmers to ensure they utilise the training institute to learn new agriculture technologies.

And Serenje District Agricultural Coordinator, Katumwa Mutandi said the institute has improved significantly and is showcasing new agricultural technologies.
